The study results showed a faster and more marked regression of symtomatology with idoxuridine (Apridin) than with placebo.3
There was no statistically significan diference in the modification of clinical critaria of efficacy between topical acyclovir and placebo treated patients.4
In HSV-1 infection, topical idoxuridine (Apridin) is as effective as, but more tolerated, than oral acyclovir.
